| Joe Kreger is the old guard of the Iron League, able to paint many a picture of Crow River Baseball history. He's been the envy of many Crow River managers while directing his troops to many South Division Championships during his tenure ... Krooger also played a major roll as a multi-faceted player during his heyday as an Irish player. He's the club record holder in career triples, belting 15 three baggers. He ranks in the top three in many other career categories ... His passion for baseball remains very high. His ability to inspire has had great effect on every club in the last two decades. His "when two teams play only one can win" speech helped the Irish to victory over Hamburg one summer. On another occasion he spouted "sometimes you eat the dog, sometimes the dog eats you" helping put perspective on a defeat to Hamburg one summer ... Krooger's bar-stool delivery is an effective way to reach ballplayers, who often forget of the criticism by the next game ... An energetic devotee to amateur baseball and the Green Isle Irish, Krooger was instrumental in the erection of lights at Irish Yard. |
